METOPROLOL TARTRATE

Indication*
Hypertension: As monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive agents. Angina pectoris: Long-term prophylaxis. Cardiac arrhythmias: Disturbances of cardiac rhythm, including supraventricular and ventricular arryhthmias. Myocardial infarction (MI): Treatment of hemodynamically stable patients with definite or suspected acute MI to reduce cardiovascular mortality. Adjunct to treatment of thyrotoxicosis. Prevention of migraine.
Directions for Use*
HTN, angina pectoris Initially 50-100 mg daily once or in divided doses, dose may be increased at weekly intervals to max of 450 mg daily. Cardiac arrhythmias 100-150mg per day in 2 or 3 divided doses, may be increased up to 300mg daily in divided doses. MI early treatment 50mg ever 6 hour for 48 hour in patients who tolerate full IV dose, given 15 min after the last IV dose. Maintenance dose: 100mg bid. 25-50mg every 6 hour after 15 min of last IV dose in patients who cannot tolerate full IV dose. Late treatment 100mg bid, continued for at least 3 month. Adjunct to treatment of thyrotoxicosis 150-200mg in 3 or 4 divided doses daily, may be increased up to 400mg daily. Prevention of migraine 100mg as single dose n morning, may be increased to 200mg daily in 2 divided doses (morning & evening).
