Indication*

Adjunct to diet & exercise to improve glycemic control in type 2 DM. Monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents or with insulin.

Directions for Use*

Glumet tab Adult >17 year Initially 500 mg bid. May be increased in increments of 500 mg weekly. Max: 2,000 mg daily in divided doses. Children 10-16 year 500 mg bid. May be increased by 500 mg weekly. Max: 2,000 mg daily in divided doses. Doses >2,000 mg should be given in3 divided doses. Concomitant use with insulin Initially 500 mg once daily. May be increased by 500 mg after approximately 1 week & by 500 mg every week thereafter until adequate glycemic control is achieved. Max: 2,500 mg daily. Glumet 850-mg tab Adult >17 year Initially 500 bid to 850 mg bid after 2 week. Max daily dose: 2,550 mg in divided doses. Children 10-16 year Initially 500 mg bid or 850 mg once daily. May be increased by 500 mg weekly. Max daily dose: 2,000 mg in divided doses. Concomitant use with insulin Initially 500 mg or 850 mg once daily. May be increased by 500 mg after approximately 1 week & by 500 mg every week thereafter until adequate glycemic control is achieved. Max: daily dose:2,550 mg. Reduce insulin dose by 10-25% when fasting plasma glucose conc decrease <120mg/dL. Glumet-XR tab Adult >17 year Initially 500 mg once daily. Dose may be increased in increments of 500 mg weekly up to max 2,000 mg once daily.

Administration*

Should be taken with food. Glumet-XR Swallow whole, Do not chew/crush.
