Indication*
Edema associated with heart, including pulmonary edema, & with renal & hepatic disorders & may be effective in patients unresponsive to thiazide diuretics. HTN either alone or with other antihypertensives. Used in high doses in management of oliguria due to renal failure or insufficiency.
Directions for Use*
Adult 20-80mg single daily dose preferably in the morning, may be titrated & given in divided doses every 6-8 hour. Edema Initially 40mg in the morning. Maintenance: 20-40mg daily, increased to >80mg daily in resistance edema. HTN 40-80mg daily either alone or with other antihypertensives. Children Initially 2mg/kg/dose, increased by 1-2 mg/kg every 6-8 hour if diuretics response is not achieved. After initial dose, max: 6mg/kg with interval of at least 2 hour between doses, Edema Initially 1-3mg/kg daily. Max: 40mg daily. Chronic renal impairment Oliguria Initially 250mg daily, increased if necessary in steps of 250mg every 4-6 hour to max: 1.5 g in 24 hour.
Administration*
May be taken with or without food.
