125mg/5mL, 50mL Powder for Oral Suspension
Indication*
For the treatment of infections caused by clarithromycin susceptible organism such as upper and lower respiratory infections, otitis media, skin structure infections and other mycobacterial infections.
Directions for Use*
Slowly add boiled & cooled water up to the mark on label. Put cap on and shake vigorously. This makes 50 mL of suspension. The reconstituted suspension is stable for 7 days at temperature not exceeding 30c.
Administration*
The recommended daily dosage of Clarithromycin in children is 7.5 mg/kg twice a day up to a maximum dose of dose 500 mg twice daily for non-mycobacterial infections. The usual duration of treatment is for 5 to 10 days depending on the pathogen involved and the severity of the condition. The prepared suspension can be taken with or without food. The dosage of Clarithromycin should be reduced by one half i.e up to 250 mg once daily or 250 mg twice daily in more severe infections. Dosage should not be continued beyond 14 days in these patients. Or as prescribed by the physician.
