Anaerobic protozoal infections g, amoebiasis ( intestinal & extraintestinal) , giardiasis, trichomoniasis, balantidiasis, blastocystiasis & dientamebiasis; bacterial infections including Bacteroides fragilis & Clostridium tetani.

Urogenital trichomoniasis 1 tab morning & night for 7 days or 5 tab as single dose. Amoebiasis Intestinal disease in susceptible subject 2 tab tid for 5 days or 5 days as a single dose for 3 days. Intestinal disease in less susceptible subject & chronic amoebic hepatitis 1 tab tid for 5-10 days or 5 tab as a single dose for 2 days. Amoebic liver abscess & other forms of extra intestinal amoebiasis 1 tab tid for 5 days or 5 tab as single dose for 2 days. Acute ulcerative gingivitis 1 tab bid for 3 days. Giardiasis 1st course: 5 tab as a single dose for 3 days. 2nd course of treatment may be necessary 2 week after the end of the 1st course. Anaerobic infections with other bacteriologically appropriate antibacterial agent for >7 days Adult 500 mg tid. Children & infant 7 mg/kg tid. Prevention of anaerobic infections Adult 400 mg every 8 hour for 3-4 days up to 1g. Inj Adult 500 mg (100 mL) infused over a period of 20 min at a rate of 5 mL/min 8 hourly. Children <12 year 7.5 mg/kg at a rate of 5 mL/min 8 hourly.

Should be taken with food.
