Guaifenesin (Robitussin) provides symptomatic relief from congested chests which may be associated with the common cold and increase the flow of natural secretions along the lower respiratory tract. It is also used to reduce sticky phlegm.

Cap Adult to children12 year 1-2 cap every 4 hour. Children 6 to <12 years 1 cap every 4 hour. Syrup Adult to children 12 year 10-20mL every 4 hour. Children 6 to <12 year 5-10mL every 4 hour; 2 to >6 year 50-100 mg/dose. Max: 600mg daily. Missed Dose: This medicine needs to be given on a fixed schedule. Take the missed dose as soon as the patient remembers. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continued the regular dosing schedule. Do not take double dose to make up for the missed one.

May be taken with or without food.
