Lower respiratory tract (eg, acute & chronic bronchitis, & pneumonia) & upper respiratory tract ( eg, sinusitis & pharyngitis) infections. Appropriate for initial therapy in community acquired respiratory infections & has been active in vitro against common & atypical respiratory pathogens. Skin & soft tissue infections of mild to moderate severity eg, folliculitis, cellulitis, erysipelas. Eradication of H. pylori in patients with duodenal ulcers.

Respiratory tract/ skin & soft tissue infections Adult 250 mg bid, may be increased to 500 mg bid in severe infections. Duration of treatment: 6-14 days. Children >12 year Same with adult dose. Eradication of H. pylori in patients with duodenal ulcers Adult Duration of treatment: 6-14 days. Triple therapy: Clarithromycin 500 mg bid & lansoprazole 30 mg bid with amoxicillin 1,000 mg bid: clarithromycin 500 mg bid omeprazole 40 mg daily with amoxicillin 1,000 mg bid or metronidazole 400 mg bid; Clarithromycin 500 mg bid & omeprazole 30 mg daily with amoxicillin 1,000 mg bid. Elderly Same with adult dose. Renal impairment CrCI <30 mL/min Reduce dose by 1/2 ie, 250 mg once daily or 250 mg bid in more severe infections. Do not continue treatment beyond 14 days.

May be taken with or without food.
