Amoxicillin may be given orally without regard to meals. Usually Adult Dose: 250 mg to 500 mg every 8 hours or 500mg every 12 hours, depending on the type and severity of infection. Maximum Dose: 6g/day in divided doses. An adult dose of 3 g twice daily is recommended in appropriate cases for the treatment of severe or recurrent purulent respiratory tract infection. Recommended Adult Dose for specific Infections: Usual Pediatric Dose: Neonates and infants <3 months: 20 to 30mg/kg body weight/day in divided doses every 12 hours. Infants >3 months and children <40 kg: 25 to 50mg/kg body weight/day in divided doses every 8 hours or every 12 hours. For Endocarditis Prophylaxis for dental Procedures in Children; 50mg/kg body weight as a single dose given 30 to 60 minutes before procedure.
